    In 2016, CRRC Sifang America was awarded a contract, for up to $1.3 billion, by the CTA to supply more than 840 new railcars.     Based on production quality standards and requirements for new products, the Quality Inspector will monitor production quality to identify opportunities for improvement.  Record, maintain, and retain quality files, procedures, and work instructions for proper adherence to the quality inspection process and system.  Inspect product materials, mechanics, and electrical systems as well as verify product dimensions, construction quality of electrical wiring, and cabling.

    Also, identify and locate imperfections and discrepancies with specification and technical requirements and verify that parts are functioning correctly.  Test the proper fit of components, check the flow of electricity and ensure the proper operation of equipment and machinery.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Perform electrical inspections, and inspect purchased products and systems;
    2. Implement standardized quality policies, work instructions, and test procedures;
    3. Assist with training;
    4. Ensure testing documentation is completed, as necessary, and test data is analyzed;
    5. Prepare, perform, and document supplier test procedures;
    6. Conduct testing and/or audits to ensure goals are achieved;
    7. Implement, follow, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System;
    8. Assist with quality activity schedules, quality procedures, and safety processes;
    9. Consistently demonstrate understanding of quality processes;
    10. Support internal inspections;
    11. Interface with production teams and share information, such as quality issues;
    12. Maintain and comply with all regulatory requirements such as FRA, OSHA, EPA, and ISO etc.;
    13. Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety rules;
    14. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition; and
    15. Perform other duties as assigned.



    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be necessary.


    Education and/or Experience


    1. High School Diploma/GED or Associates Degree
    2. One (1) to three (3) years of hands-on electrical testing experience;
    3. One (1) to three (3) years of railcar, aerospace, or heavy-duty truck manufacturing experience;
    4. Strong knowledge of electrical defects and the ability to inspect based on provided specifications;
    5. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics;
    6. Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment;
    7. Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
    8. Strong documentation, planning and organizational skills; and
    9. Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office


    1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or at least 2 years working experience in railcar, aerospace, or heavy-duty truck electrical engineering;
    2. Two (2) to five (5) years of Quality Electrical Engineering experience;
    3. Extensive knowledge of electrical defects and the ability to inspect to given specifications;
    4. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification;
    5. Quality Inspector certification (CQI); and/or
    6. Ability to read and speak Mandarin
